Students enjoy the FORMAT17 Photography Festival
Mon, 10 April 2017
Photography students from Clarendon Sixth Form College attended the FORMAT17 Photography Festival in Derby to do contextual research for their courses and explore different exhibition techniques for their work.
The 2017 edition of FORMAT explored the theme of ‘habitat’ through varied narratives and imagery that document the worlds around us. Students got to experience the stories that merge as we negotiate our complex existence, including the flora, fauna, landscapes and the lives within.
The ‘habitat’ exhibition looked broadly at landscape, environment, mobility, migrations, digital worlds, ideas of home and displacement, conflict and regeneration and all the spaces that we live in including work that considers our short or long term impact on the world locally and internationally.
Kevin Linnane, photography teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “Trips like this to FORMAT17 have become an important educational experience that inspire students and allows them to explore different photographic techniques and perspectives. The students had a great day looking at the variety of ways that artists express themselves through photography.”
