The minimum entry requirement is 5 GCSE passes at grade A* - C (including mathematics and English) or a Merit in BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Information Technology and Level 2 mathematics and English.

Course Content

Ideal for learners wishing to acquire skills in a variety of computer programming languages and business computing applications. The course consists of 3 core units of study and with the remainder units made up of your chosen learning pathway. It provides you with an understanding of the industrial and commercial application of Information Technology including Website Design and customisation, Networking, Systems Analysis and Design and Database Development plus many more.

At the beginning of the course you will be given the option of choosing a learning stream, allowing you to tailor your educational experience at the college. The streams offered within the first year are ‘networking’ and ‘creative technologies’. In the second year you will be given the option of ‘programming’ or the alternative stream from year one.

Course Format

This is a vocational course where students are assessed via individual and group work, presentations, written assignments, video evidence, mini projects, research, case studies, practical demonstrations and observations.

Higher Education, HND in Computing or directly into employment within a range of IT jobs including Web Development, Network Support and Software Development.
